Strata

Strata is a generative editorial-poster system. It composes headline, image, index, and metadata onto a strict grid using the studio's own layout rules, then re-rolls infinite on-brand variations. Design direction, encoded, a starting point in one click, never a blank canvas.

Good editorial design isn't luck, it's a set of rules about tension, scale, and negative space, applied with taste. Strata encodes those rules: where a headline can break, how large an index numeral can grow, when an image bleeds versus sits inset, what counts as too balanced.

It doesn't replace the designer; it removes the blank page. Every roll is a legitimate, on-brand composition that a human then refines. We use it to fill a wall with directions in minutes and choose from strength rather than starting from nothing.

Under the hood it's a constraint solver over a modular grid, closer to a typesetting engine than a random layout generator. The randomness is bounded by taste.
